The ranks are thinning among the Russian tops in the oil giant Lukoil.
At least three have now died – in less than two years.
Last in line: Chairman of the board Vladimir Nekrasov, 66, who reportedly died of a cardiac arrest, according to Reuters.
After almost 50 years at Lukoil, Russia’s second largest oil company, the company’s chairman Vladimir Nekrasov has died. In a brief press release from the company, the 66-year-old is said to have died of cardiac arrest.
The death is one of several within the Russian oil giant in recent years.
Last May, high-ranking Lukoil executive Alexander Subbotin was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a residential building just outside the Russian capital, Moscow.
According to the apartment building’s owner, the shaman Aleksej Pindjurin, the 43-year-old billionaire appeared under the influence of alcohol and drugs and was then found dead in a room in the basement of the building.
Died after mysterious fall from window
Nekrasov’s predecessor as chairman, Ravil Maganov, died in September 2022 after falling from a sixth-floor window at a Moscow hospital.
The gas and oil company Lukoil received a lot of attention when, shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, they wished for “a quick end to the armed conflict”.
