The government is breaking records in the confidence of the Swedish people, according to the latest survey from Novus, which will be presented on Wednesday.
At the same time, Jimmie Åkesson (SD) is the party leader who increases the most in trust.
It is Magdalena Andersson (S) who takes first place 44% (+2) when the polling company Novus asked the Swedish people what confidence they have in the party leaders. Next comes Prime Minister Kristersson’s 36% (+2). But compared to Novus’ last survey in October, it is Jimmie Åkesson 26% (+4) who increases the most in trust. One explanation could be that the Sweden Democrats gain more confidence in substantive issues. An example is the issue of law and order.
– It is the three largest parties that are moving forward. Above all, it is worth mentioning Åkesson who is slowly but surely creeping forward.
Why do you think they are increasing?
– SD wins on more substantive issues. Before Christmas, we could ascertain that they were strongest in the matter of law and order, for example. They fight with the Moderates to be the second largest party. says Torbjörn Sjöström, CEO of Novus to TV4 Nyheterna

Worst for the Center leader
In the survey, it is the Left Party’s Nooshi Dadgostar 18% (-2) that loses the most. Amanda Lind 16% (+-0) touches the highest rating for a mouthpiece in the Green Party since 2015 when Gustav Fridolin reached his highest ratings. Center leader Muharrem Demirok 7%( +-0) ends up last in yet another survey on party leader confidence.
– Muharrem Demirok has never managed to lift off. He took office during a crisis, and has not managed to get out of that crisis yet. It is very difficult to win voters for the party if you do not have confidence in the party leader.
Record for the government
Novus regularly measures the trust the Swedish people have in the government as a whole. In today’s survey, the government breaks records. Shortly after the election in October 2022, 34% of the Swedish people believed that they had a lot or quite a lot of trust in the government. It fell after the election, then rose in connection with NATO entry, and in March 2024 the government reached 35% in confidence. Today’s survey shows that 38% of the Swedish people have a lot or quite a lot of trust in the government as a whole. At the same time, the percentage who have a lot or rather little trust in the government is falling. 41% (-2)
– It is actually the highest measured figure for this government ever since they took office. We saw during NATO membership how confidence soared. Now it has postponed even more. Perhaps depending on an uncertain environment when voters tend to end up around the incumbent government, says Torbjörn Sjöström.
The survey was conducted by Novus during the period 9–15 January 2025 and was answered by a total of 1,004 people aged 18–84. They have answered the questions: What confidence do you have in the following party leaders, as well as what confidence do you have in the government as a whole.
