Decision on LIV tour

– It is important that we are careful with the facts. The only thing we have done, which many seem to have difficulty understanding, is that we did not extend our contract with him because we felt that what he represents is not in line with what we believe in Swedish golf. LIV Golf is something else. It’s an exhibition series, a format where everyone is invited and no one leaves. We don’t think that’s any competition and that’s why we didn’t extend. As I understand it, this decision has not changed anything what is happening with the Saudis and LIV, says the Secretary General Gunnar Håkansson according to TT.

But the situation may change if Stenson returns to one of the other tours or if LIV is shut down.
– Then the conditions are the same as they were before and it is a different situation. Then we get to think about what our business looks like and Henrik gets to think about what he wants to do, Gunnarsson admits in the interview.

The Swedish Golf Association’s general secretary still sees it as a good decision for the tours to merge.
– We think it is good if top golf comes together. It is the best thing for the sport, that the best players play against each other. Over time it was inevitable and something we saw coming, so it’s basically good, says Gunnar Håkansson to the news agency.
