By creating a silicone oil serum that mosquitoes hate, a Japanese cosmetics company has found a way to stop them from spreading disease. When one of the company’s employees test-drives his arm in a mosquito box with the serum on his arm, he doesn’t get bitten once.
Even in the Netherlands, progress has been made in the fight against malaria – there, a drug has been developed that creates antibodies in those who are already infected.
