The week is coming to an end and once again there is news about Destiny 2 and its future thanks to a new TWaB post from Bungie. This time there are a lot of changes being announced regarding PvP and they are really tough.
What has Bungie announced? In Bungie’s latest TWaB post, many changes regarding PvP were announced. Bungie’s PvP Strike team has done a great job and planned changes over several updates that players can gradually enjoy until the release of “The Final Shape”.
This includes adjustments to the maps, modes, matchmaking as well as a mode that players will soon be able to test in the laboratories – “Hardware”.
A mode just for hard Guardians: no skills, just weapons
What should the mode look like? Hardware should be implemented in the laboratories. It is a modifier that locks all of your abilities. So you will only be able to do anything against enemy Guardians in the Crucible with your weapons in your hands. Special and heavy ammunition packages will also drop, which you can then pick up and use in battle.
Why do many Guardians want to fight without skills? While every PvP mode in Destiny 2 has your skills active, many Guardians have wanted a mode in which players fight each other using only their weapons.
The abilities in Destiny 2 are a core feature that brings the space magic of the loot shooter to life, but in PvP they are often perceived as annoying or unfair. There are usually moments where you would have won easily in a 1v1, but instead you end up throwing ults, grenades or throwing knives around. This annoys many players.
Destiny 2 has some of the best gunplay available in the shooter category. Guardians sometimes just want to compete with guns to show who can handle them better. Unfortunately, anyone can successfully throw a “Novabomb”, but a Quickscope from a “Revered” is more difficult to master.
When will hardware appear? Bungie doesn’t have a specific date yet, but the developers have listed the chronological update order in which “Hardware” should appear. We are currently on version number 7.3.4.2.
So first comes update 7.3.5 and then 7.3.6 appears with the hardware update. It is not yet possible to estimate when the developers are aiming for the release. It is clear that you will receive the update before “The Final Shape”.
What do you think of such a mode? Will you stop by and test the mode or are you not interested? Let us find out in the comments!
