The Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) has ordered a new mobile air defense system from Saab.
The order concerns a few systems that are to be tested before a major procurement of short-range air defense for the army. The system consists of two parts – a radar unit and a fire unit with Robot 70, each mounted on a track carriage 410.
“Robot 70 is a well-proven air defense system in the Swedish Armed Forces. The purpose of the procurement is to investigate the possibilities of increasing the system’s mobility and thereby improving protection against air threats by integrating robot 70 and sensor units on a tracked vehicle,” says Christer Mellgren, project manager at FMV, in a press release.
Deliveries are to take place continuously starting at the beginning of 2025.
