New MMORPG relies on game masters who turn your game world upside down – now shows gameplay in the trailer

The new MMORPG Eternal Tombs on Steam relies on a fresh concept with real game masters who can change your game world at any time. A trailer offers you first impressions of the pre-alpha raid test.

What is behind the concept of Game Masters? Eternal Tombs is a new sandbox MMORPG coming to Steam. Above all, it wants to score points with a special system: Game Masters can reprogram the various trigger points in the game world daily or spontaneously, where random events should take place.

The role of Game Masters is taken on by a team behind the game. They constantly keep an eye on the players and the community and can, for example, react to large gatherings at a certain location.

What does the trailer show? In a trailer, the developers show you gameplay from a pre-alpha raid test. Several players engage in an action-packed battle against a large dragon:

Since these are excerpts from the pre-alpha, the gameplay shown will probably differ from the actual gameplay that will await you upon release.

At this point, the attacks consist of many effects. Sometimes the lights are almost too blinding, as user “blinnxthecollector” notes in his comment (via YouTube). Nevertheless, he also praises the progress that Eternal Tombs has made. How much the effects will change by the time of release remains to be seen.

Similar to the user “gamingcollection4448”, who writes in his comment: “I hope for a good game here. Maybe there are a few more mechanics in other raids,” many players seem to be placing their hopes in Eternal Tombs.

Developers believe it will be released in 2025

Where is Eternal Tombs now? The developers are currently talking about a good year 2023 on their official website (via eternaltombs.com). After this one, they seem to think a 2025 release is pretty realistic.

After a few tests have already taken place this year, further public tests are to follow in 2024. You can request access to the playtest on Steam.

After 6 years in development, Eternal Tombs is currently in the “polishing stage”, meaning the game is still being polished. This is certainly a good sign for the path the developers want to take until 2025 – and a good starting point for the promised tests in 2024.

Another MMO also wants to convince players with its concept: In a new MMO on Steam, you have to survive in a flooded world by collecting scrap, smuggling and trading
