Most MMORPGs rely on spectacular fights against nasty monsters and powerful bosses, but Palia does it differently and focuses on pure relaxation!
What kind of game is this? With Palia (PC, Switch), the indie development studio Singularity Six is creating a new MMORPG that takes games like Animal Crossing as a model. Even in the trailers, the game advertises that it wants to give you a “cozy life”.
Palia doesn’t make you the great hero who saves the world in breathtaking battles. Instead, you are a valued member of the neighborhood. You move into a house with your character and live next door to other players and NPCs that offer distinct backstories.
Palia’s gameplay is all about relaxation
What is Palia gameplay like? The core elements of the game consist of pursuits that MMORPG players typically do as a side hustle. This includes tasks such as growing and harvesting various foods, forging tools, and maintaining and decorating your own home.
But activities like fishing, logging, and cooking are also part of the gameplay. In addition, the developers spoke of the fact that smaller competitions such as a card game with friends or a race on the beach would fit into the gameplay (via palia.com).
What do we know about the release? The release of Palia is planned for winter 2023. The MMORPG will be released for Nintendo Switch and PC, but it is not yet known whether it will also be available on Steam.

Palia will be Free2Play and promises to offer fair monetization. The game does not have boosters or buffs that can be purchased, or a rotation in the shop. In general, only cosmetic content such as clothing sets and outfits should be sold.
Is it PvP or PvE? Palia would like to completely avoid fights against other players (PvP). However, it is intended to offer some form of PvE in certain areas of the map. For example, in the Switch trailer, we see a player hunting wild animals with a bow and arrow.
Since Palia focuses on relaxed and stress-free gaming, you also have the option of avoiding any fights and completely avoiding violence in Palia.
