Starkeepers is an indie MMO from developer Wolfpack Games that is scheduled for release in 2023. It focuses on joint player activities and lets you organize clans as if you were Vikings.
What kind of game is this? In Starkeepers, you create a character, which turns you into a beast. Then you enter the mythologically inspired fantasy world, where you can decide for yourself what you want to do.
What is special is that there are no fixed classes. You get skills from relics and put your skills together individually. In addition, players seem to be able to embody different heroes to use other skills. We don’t yet know exactly how the class system works.
Build and defend a city
Together with other players you found a clan and build a city – your own Starkeep. You have to protect it from other players. You use crafting to further expand and arm them. The gameplay of the MMO is reminiscent of Tribes of Midgard, where you have to protect your village with 10 players.
Starkeepers seems to focus on PvP. Whoever occupies a territory as a clan can rule over it. Players should be able to establish their own rules and hierarchies.
In addition, the MMO offers an action-packed combat system. Not only can you learn many skills, but you can also double jump, roll on the ground and block your opponent’s attacks.
At IGN 2022, the developers showed the first trailer for Starkeepers:
The graphics are not necessarily the most modern and do not impress with the most details. However, the gameplay looks all the more promising.
In addition to building your fortress, you can complete quests and determine your own path within the story. According to the developers, the mythological story has some surprises in store.
When is Starkeepers coming out? The MMO is scheduled to appear in 2023 and will then go into Early Access on Steam. The developers have not yet revealed an exact date.
