On July 4, 2022, François Braun is appointed Minister of Health and Prevention of the second government Elisabeth Borne. Born in 1962 to a father who was a general practitioner and firefighter in the Territory of Belfort, François Braun chose to follow medical studies. He becomes emergency doctor and practice at Nancy University Hospital in 1984. In 2010, he became head of emergency services at the Mercy Hospital of the Regional Hospital Center of Metz-Thionville. On January 14, 2014, he became the President of the Samu-Urgences union in France.

On May 31, 2022, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron announced the launch ofa support mission aimed at identifying the first operational solutions to facilitate access to urgent and unscheduled care throughout France. Appointed by Brigitte Bourguignon, Doctor François Braun, surrounded by a tight team of health professionals, was responsible fora “flash” mission to take stock of the difficulties encountered by the Emergency Department and find concrete and applicable solutions for the summer of 2022, when the flow is tighter in terms of human resources. These tensions are the result of two and a half years of health crisis, but also of more structural factors (shortage of caregivers) and societal (the aspirations of professionals are changing). A month later, on July 1, 2022, the emergency doctor issued 41 recommendations to respond to the risks of summer. Among these recommendations:
- Inform the population with a national and local campaign on the proper use of emergency services.
- Promote the recruitment of liberal health professionals who agree to participate in hospital activity in addition to their liberal activity.
- Maintain 100% support for teleconsultations over the summer.
- Implementation of territorial management of the downstream beds under the responsibility of the ARS.
