In addition to Alaqua Cox, who once again takes on the role of Maya Lopez, we also get to see Vincent D’Onofrio in Echo. The Kingpin actor is already very present in the first trailer and makes a splash some bloody moments. In addition, none other than Daredevil briefly flies through the picture.

Revolutionary Marvel series on Disney+: First Echo trailer scores with Kingpin and Daredevil

Charlie Cox most recently appeared in the MCU series She-Hulk: The Lawyer in the role of Red Devil from Hell’s Kitchen. Aside from cameos and guest appearances, there are many more reasons why Echo is a special project. Actually they are four reasonsturning Echo into a groundbreaking MCU series.

  • The age rating: Echo is the first MCU series on Disney+ to receive a TV-MA rating in the US. Specifically, this means that the series contains material that may be inappropriate for children under 14, such as scenes containing coarse language, sexual acts and intense violence.
  • The publication: Echo is the first MCU series to release its entire season (five episodes in total) on Disney+ in one day. The series will also be released in the USA on the streaming service Hulu.
  • The MCU classification: Echo is the first MCU series to arrive on Disney+ under the Marvel Spotlight banner. This is about grounded stories that focus on individual characters rather than telling a larger-than-life adventure in which the world or the universe has to be saved.
  • The representation: Echo, and this is the most exciting point, is the first MCU series to feature a deaf protagonist. The story also deals with Maya’s roots as a Native American. In the trailer we get a brief insight into her past.
  • Marvel is trying a lot of new things with Echo. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the series will be more like this Prestige drama than resemble a classic MCU series. In addition to Marvel’s Daredevil, the series milestone Breaking Bad and the action festival John Wick are mentioned as reference points. That actually sounds very tempting.

New Marvel series: When does Echo start on Disney+?

Echo starts on January 10, 2024 on Disney+. As mentioned, the entire season will be released in one go. So you can binge all five episodes on launch day. It is still unclear whether there will be a second season afterwards.
