The Marvel series universe at Disney+ continues to grow. It was reported some time ago that Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton is developing a Wonder Man series for the streaming service that will see Ben Kingsley return as an MCU impostor. Superhero connoisseur Yahya Abdul-Mateen II becomes Wonder Man for Marvel
According to Variety, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been cast to star in Marvel’s Wonder Man series. The actor already knows the superhero genre very well. In the DC blockbuster Aquaman he played the role of the villain Black Manta, who also appears in the sequel Aquaman: Lost Kingdom. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also starred as Doctor Manhattan in Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen series. He won the 2020 Emmy for Best Supporting Actor for the role.
In the Marvel Comics, Wonder Man is beneath his real name Simon Williams surfaced. In the template, he initially joined forces with the evil Baron Zemo to lure the Avengers into a trap. Eventually, however, he changed sides and became part of the superhero team.
To the many of Wonder Man’s superpowers include superhuman strength, speed, the ability to fly, and immortality, among others.
