New Law Proposal from England Against ECHR Decisions

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), last week, entered the agenda of British politics with a temporary injunction that prevented the departure of the plane that would take illegal immigrants to Rwanda.

The flight, which was planned to deport 130 illegal immigrants to Rwanda with the approval of the Supreme Court in England, was prevented in accordance with Article 39 of the European Convention on Human Rights. In the decision, unsolved cases of some immigrants were put forward.

Justice Minister Dominic Raab urged parliament to approve a new bill that would end the ECHR’s practices that “bind the hands of the British judiciary”.

The ECHR dealt the final blow to the Conservative Party’s plan to get rid of illegal immigrants, despite all the objections voiced by the opposition.

The opposition Labor Party members criticized the Conservative Party members, who said, “Britain should withdraw from this agreement,” reminding that the historical Prime Minister of the Conservative Party, Winston Churchill, personally played a role in the formation and institutionalization of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Minister of Justice Raab, without mentioning this demand, emphasized the right of England to have the last word on its own policies.

Raab stated that this planned change will prevent the ECtHR from interfering with the British high court decisions in human rights violation cases.

The Minister invited the parliament to review the law amendment published on the E-Government website.

According to the Minister of Justice, who stated that with the law amendment, the courts’ forcing journalists to reveal their sources is also conditional, thus increasing the freedom of expression of individuals.

The bill also promises to bring solutions to prevent radical criminals from being isolated in prisons by asserting their right to socialize.

Emphasizing the British tradition in freedoms and human rights while making his presentation, Raab stated that common sense will be added to the system at a healthy level.

The Minister of Justice also said that this law will facilitate the removal of foreign criminals from the country, putting the safety of the British people at the forefront.

The bill aims to make it clear that the British Supreme Court is the “final judicial decision-maker” in human rights matters and that the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights does not always need to be followed by English courts.
