New Kia Niro and Continental cooperation announced

Continentalfully electric Kia Niro became the original equipment supplier of hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. Here are the details.

Technology company and premium tire maker Continental has become the original equipment supplier for Kia’s new Niro model. Niro’s hybrid and plug-in models leave the factory with Continental’s EcoContact 6 Q, PremiumContact 6 and ProContact RX premium tires. 17″ EcoContact 6 Q tires are fitted to the fully electric Niro model in European, Middle Eastern and African factories. HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) and PHEV (plug-in hybrid) models leave the factory with 18″ PremiumContact 6 series tires.

EcoContact 6 Q stands out not only with its high energy efficiency and long service life, but also with its superior road holding and braking performance. The tread profile ensures a longer tire life by constantly adapting to the road surface. The specially developed rubber compound minimizes friction when the tire comes into contact with the road surface, so the tire absorbs less energy and reduces rolling resistance. Thanks to the developed blocks, sipes and side channels, the noise level of the EcoContact 6 Q series has also been optimized.
