The Riddler, the Penguin and mafia boss Carmine Falcone are the three central villains in The Batman. Additionally, in its final minutes, the film reveals another antagonist for Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight: the joker. The iconic DC villain is played by Barry Keoghan.
The exciting thing about the revelation is that we don’t see the villain’s origin story. Rather, the film suggests that the Joker has been up to mischief in this Gotham City for a long time – so long that we even get to know him behind bars. As the DC version of Hannibal Lecter he stalks the young Bruce Wayne.

Barry Keoghan as the Joker in The Batman
As much as Keoghan Ledger’s Joker performance revered, for The Batman he did intentionally distancedto show the audience a joker that hasn’t been seen on the big screen before.
I don’t want to be the actor who uses this and this method. I want my own interpretation [des Jokers] create because I feel like it’s new and unique in a way. That might just lead to people forming a new relationship with the character.
It is currently unclear when Keoghan’s Joker will return to the DC Universe. The actor himself has already stated huge interest an appearance in The Batman 2. In addition, it would be possible for him to stop by in the spin-off series The Penguin.
