Seven health workers were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Baalbek in southern Lebanon on Friday, according to Lebanon’s health ministry.
One was the director of Dar al-Amal University Hospital and the attack is said to have targeted a residence near the hospital.
The ministry condemned “the continued Israeli aggression against medical personnel and medical facilities.”
Israel launched new airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Lebanon’s capital Beirut just before midnight on Friday local time.
AFP journalists report at least three explosions, the more powerful of which. Smoke is rising from at least two locations, according to the news agency.
Earlier on Friday, an eleven-story building was also destroyed in an attack on an area of southern Beirut where Hezbollah is reported to have a strong presence.
