New Investigation Suggests Vandel Requirements for Residence Permit

On Tuesday, the government and Migration Minister Johan Forssell (M) took the so -called Vandels investigation that was on report. The investigation proposes that a residence permit be introduced for a residence permit and that it will be easier to revoke a residence permit.

– I want migration policy in Sweden to be fair. At the same time as it is worthwhile to do the right thing for itself and to want to become part of Swedish society, there must also be consequences for those who commit crimes or behave badly, says Migration Minister Johan Forssell.

“Then you should not be in Sweden”

Examples of what may be a lack of vandel are remarks at Kronofogden, repeated minor crime, abuse of the welfare systems or that you constitute a security threat.

– It will have completely different consequences in the future if you commit crimes or otherwise misbehave. Then you should not be in Sweden, then you should return home, says Migration Minister Johan Forsell (M) at a press conference.

Shall take effect in July

In addition, the investigation proposes extended opportunities to revoke residence permits for reasons other than a lack of walking. This may include incorrect information from employers or any other relative. Certain time limits for revocation for residence permits are also proposed to be removed.

– Confidence in the Swedish migration system requires that there are clear consequences for cheating and abuse, says Johan Forssell.

The Migration Board is also proposed to have increased access to relevant information in order for the proposals to have an effective impact in practice.

The legislative changes will come into force on July 1, 2026, the investigation proposes.
