The couple who are suspected of gross illegal intelligence activities in Sweden used to live next door to a known GRU agent in Moscow, it states DN through the journalism network Bellingcat. The GRU agent is suspected, among other things, of having been involved in the high-profile poison attack against Sergei Skripal in the English city of Salisbury in 2018.
At the same time, there is new information that another designated GRU agent was the principal of one of the technology companies that the couple ran. It is about a 76-year-old former colonel in the GRU, according to Swedish daily newspaper.
It was on Tuesday morning that the national task force raided the couple’s villa in the Stockholm area. They are suspected of having, for several years, engaged in gross illegal subjugation activities against Sweden and the USA, on behalf of the Russian GRU. During Friday, the man was detained in the Stockholm district court, while the woman is released, but the suspicions against her remain.
