Five years ago, the first field with around 19,000 solar panels was opened at the Eemnes junction. Unused cables lying along the cloverleaf allow an additional power of 5 megavolt amperes. If new solar panels are connected, the municipality would contribute a significant share to the energy task of the Amersfoort region. The municipalities, the province and the Vallei en Veluwe water board have agreed in the Regional Energy Strategy (RES) to make plans that will enable them to generate at least 500,000 megawatt hours from sun and wind by 2030.
