New Gameplay Images from Shadow of the Road

Shadow of the Road is a turn-based RPG game set in an alternative Japan in 1868.

As the Boshin War draws to a close, strange steam engines and creatures straight out of Japanese mythology take advantage of the chaos to wreak havoc. Led by spymaster Tokugawa Yoshinobu, players will set out to protect a child with mysterious powers.

Decisions and Relationships Will Change the Course of War in Shadow of the Road

Players will have great freedom in advancing the story, dealing with the characters they encounter, and approaching combat. The most important task of players as strategists will be to create and develop an elite team of warriors that can cope with the challenges.

It will be up to players to form close bonds with team members and among themselves, sever important friendships, and even repair the family ties of some characters. Since each potential team member has their own motivations, desires, and fears, players will need to carefully consider them as individuals to avoid saying or doing something they can’t take back later.

Although Shadow of the Road’s battles are turn-based, samurai tactics also appear to be involved. Each warrior has powerful abilities that must be used carefully, but mere combat ability alone does not seem to be enough to achieve victory. Characters’ personalities and relationships can have tangible effects on combat effectiveness. Therefore, players will need to take this into account in their tactics and overall strategy if they want to achieve victory.

Shadow of the Road stands out as a production that should be considered for RPG lovers with its interesting story, original atmosphere and in-depth mechanics. Although it may not be as popular as Baldur’s Gate 3, it seems to offer a satisfactory experience in terms of content and quality.
