Game of Thrones is over, but Journeys to Westeros is far from over. After House of the Dragon, the next fantasy series in the world of George RR Martin has received the green light. It’s called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight and based on its setting it will be the first GOT series without dragons.
This is known about the new series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
Yesterday Warner Bros. Discovery unveiled its new legacy streaming service, Max, and unveiled a slew of series projects, including the Harry Potter remake, DC series The Penguin, and a spin-off of The Big Bang Theory. The new Game of Thrones series was also confirmed. The following information is officially confirmed (via Variety):
George RR Martin has not yet finished the story of Dunk and Egg in the tales. Three have been published, but the writer has toyed with six to 12 stories about the duo in the past.
Who are Dunk and Egg?
The official synopsis of the series is as follows:
“A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes travel through Westeros: a young, naïve but brave knight – Ser Duncan the Great – and his little squire – Egg. Set in an era when the Targaryens still sit on the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon lingers, great destinies, mighty foes, and dangerous adventures await these unlikely and matchless friends.”
Ser Duncan the Great is about the one who grew up in the sums of King’s Landing dunk, who makes a name for himself as an abandoned fighter. One day he meets a bald boy by the name of Egg, whom he accepts as a squire. But he has no idea that the boy has a special lineage.
Dragons should not appear in the series
So the series takes place after the events of House of the Dragon and before Game of Thrones. Hence the assumption that Dragons will be absent from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: HOTD tells how the dragons were crushed in the Targaryen war, GOT in turn tells about their resurrection by Daenerys.
So maybe we can expect a series that is reminiscent of the GOT dynamics by Bronn and Jaime Lannister or Bronn and Tyrion Lannister remind.
As of now, there is no release date for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
