President Donald Trump is expected to visit California to learn about the fire situation on Sunday.
California is being warned of gusty winds on Wednesday that could revive already extinguished fires and fan new ones.
On Tuesday evening, helicopters extinguished fires in Jurupa Valley, east of Los Angeles. The fires have not destroyed residential buildings, but an evacuation warning has been issued for residential areas located near them.
Fires have also broken out in San Diego County. There, a fire engulfed a local shopping center. However, the wildfire that seemed threatening was brought under control so that the evacuation order in the area has been cancelled. The evacuation order concerned 3,000 people.
The California fires that broke out on January 7 have claimed at least 28 lives and destroyed 14,000 buildings.
Rain is forecast for the weekend in California, which is expected to ease the situation. Also the president Donald Trump’s is expected to arrive in California on Sunday to familiarize himself with the situation in the fire areas.
