New figures: Continued brake for electric cars for private individuals

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The registration of electric cars for private individuals has almost halved compared to the first quarter of last year. The industry organization Mobility Sweden is now criticizing that the government has removed the electric car bonus and lowered the reduction obligation. When the first quarter is summed up, the new registration of electric cars for private customers has decreased by 43 percent compared to last year. Fewer people lease or buy electric cars. – On the one hand, it is a tougher economic situation, higher interest rates, but they have also removed the climate bonus, which made it more expensive. It has been very important to drive the transition towards electrification, says Mattias Bergman, CEO of Mobility Sweden. Companies increase electric car purchases New figures for the first quarter of this year show that overall electric car registrations have increased slightly because companies continue to buy electric cars. But it’s not enough. In order to complete the transition to a fossil-free vehicle fleet by the year 2030, it is also necessary that the government does not reduce the use of biofuels, Mattias Bergman believes. – We have a fleet of approximately five million cars, today eight percent are rechargeable. Since the average age of a car is 19 years, it takes time to change the fleet. So even if all new cars are electric, you have to address the fleet and you do that with biofuels.
