A few days before the launch of the public beta, we discover the new features and aesthetic changes to the OneUI 5 interface, which will benefit the brand’s Galaxy devices.
Samsung’s new One UI 5 interface, based on Android 13, reveals its first secrets even before the launch of its public beta. This is an opportunity to discover in advance the features that will arrive on your Galaxy smartphone and to compare this new version with One UI 4.
What’s new in One UI 5 for the Samsung Galaxy
Without further ado, let’s start with the notification center which has been redesigned. As you can see below, notifications now benefit from round icons to more easily identify the applications concerned. The opacity also seems to have been changed to make them stand out.
Dialogs for app permissions have also been redesigned. They now look like two drops of water to those of Android Stock. We’ll see if this is a deliberate choice by Samsung to not have to tweak them and roll out One UI faster in the future, or if this beta just doesn’t incorporate that part of the game yet. interface.
The third change concerns a very practical feature: that of text recognition in images. From the Gallery app, One UI 5 will be able to automatically recognize text so you can copy and paste it wherever you want. A feature similar to that offered by iOS 16.
On One UI 5, Samsung also improves multitasking. You can now go to the Labs section of the settings to activate two new navigation gestures: swipe with two fingers from the top to the bottom of the screen to access the multi-window functionality. It will also be possible to swipe from the upper right corner of the screen to create a pop-up window.
Other minor changes will be brought by One UI 5 such as collaboration on Samsung Notes, the display of the application in use in the quick settings or the display of a photo of your smartphone on the To page. about.
Samsung ready to deploy the One UI 5 beta on its smartphones
As you have seen, One UI 5 is not a revolution compared to One UI 4, but rather an evolution. Samsung should above all focus on improving the fluidity of its interface and particularly the animations. Since this is a beta, the Korean manufacturer could still make changes to the interface before its launch. We expect the beta of One UI 5 to be available by the end of July.
Samsung is now one of the good students regarding the deployment of Android updates. Indeed, the company promises four years of major updates to its OS for its Galaxy S22, S22 + and S22 Ultra. It will now be necessary to see if this effort extends to its smartphones and tablets of the A, Z and Tab range. The latest Galaxy S will be the first to receive the One UI 5 update under Android 13, followed by the “older” models.
The other summer event at Samsung concerns the official presentation of its Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4. Two high-end products in which Samsung has great hopes to take market share from Apple in the segment of premium phones.
