Alpine has ended up as Mercedes’ customer garage.
Mercedes is the new engine manufacturer for the Alpine team from the 2026 season onwards.
Previously, Alpine has operated under Renault, but has been looking for a new engine manufacturer since the summer.
Renault announced this season that it will stop working as a factory team. At the same time, it also stops making engines.
The agreement between Alpine and Mercedes will enter into force in 2026, when the new engine rules will also be introduced in the F1 series. The agreement between the parties also covers the use of the Mercedes gearbox.
Mercedes will thus retain two customer garages, even though Aston Martin will become Honda’s engine customer.
Currently, five different engine manufacturers are seen in the F1 series: Red Bull Ford, Mercedes, Ferrari, Honda and Audi.
