Tencent has rolled up its sleeves for the new Elden Ring game. The mobile game is experiencing great difficulties in its development.
Although no official announcement has been made yet, Tencent, new Elden Ring game has already started work on it. There is talk behind the scenes that the Chinese developer is developing a mobile version of the game Elden Ring. This mobile adaptation will bring an immersive fantasy world full of mythical creatures, created by George RR Martin and Hidetaka Miyazaki, to mobile devices.
New Elden Ring Game Coming to Mobile Platforms
Released in 2022 and topping action games by selling nearly 20 million copies in its first year, “Elden Ring” looks set to be a huge success on mobile platforms. Tencent’s adaptation of this popular game to mobile platforms is seen as a logical step considering its past experience in the industry and the vast potential of the market. The mobile version is planned to be offered with a free download model and generate revenue through in-app purchases.
Tencent’s previous mobile adaptations of major games like “Assassin’s Creed” and “Need for Speed” are increasing expectations for this project. However, the company’s decision to shut down some projects like “Apex Legends” due to difficulties it experienced also raises concerns that similar problems may be experienced in the mobile adaptation of “Elden Ring”.
Tencent founder Pony Ma’s words, “Gaming is our flagship business… However, we have faced significant challenges in the past year,” clearly expressing the competition and difficulties the company has experienced in the gaming industry, show that the company is trying to overcome these challenges with new strategies. Ma stated that some gaming projects did not meet expectations in 2023 and that the company is trying to adapt to new technologies such as artificial intelligence.
