It was during Wednesday, on one of the daily walks with the dwarf collie Zippo, that 64-year-old Annelie Rudenstén in Ulricehamn suddenly had to pull hard on the dog’s leash when he had sniffed out meatballs on the ground. But when Annelie inspected them, she saw something glinting in the sun.
– There were two skewers in both meatballs, which were deep-frozen, thank God. They had probably been there for a long time so he didn’t manage to chew it and didn’t injure himself in the mouth, she says.
– So I get pissed off. I don’t understand what kind of person that is.
Not the first time
It is not the first time that dog abusers have terrorized dog owners. Among other things, TV4 Nyheterna has previously told about the nightmare period for dog owners in Malmö where bread and meat with glass shards and razor-sharp pieces of metal were found on streets and dog kennels between 2020 and 2023.
Annelie Rudenstén has also previously read about how food with sharp contents has been spread in various places in Sweden that are popular with dog owners, of which she reacted a little extra to the meatballs.
– You have read a lot about this. Yes, you know broken glass in lumps of dough and poisoned bread and all sorts of things like that, so I kind of thought, I’ll take these home with me, she says.
But the fact that a dog abuser is wreaking havoc in Ulricehamn is not something that the police know about or are currently investigating, according to Peter Apelqvist, on-call preliminary investigation manager in Borås.
– Of course, it is always good to pay attention to your dogs if there is something they are chewing on, he says.
Not only dogs can be affected
In addition to contacting the police in Ulricehamn, Annelie Rudenstén has also posted a warning to other dog owners on Facebook that they should pay attention to their animals when they are out walking. But she is worried that it is not only dogs that can be affected.
– Not only dogs but cats, birds and other wild animals. Or if a small child finds a meatball with needles in it and puts it in his mouth.
