The National Forensic Center (NFC) has begun using new software that doubles the number of useful results, according to an evaluation of the first 50 cases analyzed. It reports the P1 program In the name of the team. The software was developed in the Netherlands and can handle complex DNA traces that have previously been difficult to interpret. These can be traces that have been inhibited by dirt, deposited by several people or that contain a small amount of DNA.
– It is very likely that the prosecution will increase, says forensic scientist Staffan Jansson to the radio program.
The software has been used in several investigations during the spring. Among other things, two suspects in a shooting in Hjulsta last year could be linked to the murder weapons, the radio reports.
