According to today’s defense decision, the army’s core will continue to consist of four brigades, the navy will continue to have seven corvettes armed with anti-aircraft and five submarines. The flight will, as today, consist of six combat aviation divisions.
In order for the defense to be able to fight for a longer period of time, investments are made in more ammunition, robots, spare parts and various supplies.
– That is what is the focus of this defense decision, to fill the military units with content, that we get a stronger and more durable defense, says Minister of Defense Pål Jonson (M).
The war organization must grow
Some reinforcements are being made regarding drones, long-range robots, development of rocket artillery, Swedish military satellites and more modern radar and sensor systems.
The war organization must grow from today’s 88,000 positions to 130,000 in the year 2035. To cope with this, the number of annually trained conscripts must increase from this year’s 5,000 to 12,000 by 2035 at the latest. This includes personnel investment in the navy, increased home defense personnel and new territorial units.
