New decision: Swedish police may carry out operations in Norway

On October 11, a decision was made that Swedish and Norwegian police working in the area close to the border should be able to cooperate and operate within each country’s border. The initiative comes within the framework of the so-called Prüm Council.

Norway recently raised the security level in the country to a four on a five-point scale, which means that Norwegian police are now working armed. Swedish police always work armed.

“The decision that has now been made gives us opportunities to carry out joint efforts to combat gang crime on the Norwegian side as well, says Jonas Wendel, Arvika’s local police area manager”, comments Jonas Wendel, local police area manager in Arvika, in a press release
