Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo made statements on Twitter about Paris’ energy saving plan. Hidalgo stated that the energy crisis affected Paris as well as the rest of the country.

Stating that they have invested 10 billion euros for ecological transition since 2014, Hidalgo pointed out that the first steps should be taken to save 10% energy.

In this context, Hidalgo announced that the lights of all Paris city halls will be turned off at 22:00 local time, but the lights of the street lamps will remain on for the safety of Parisians.

Eiffel Tower’s Lights Will Be Turned Out EARLY

The Mayor of Paris stated that the lights of the Eiffel Tower, which is the symbol of Paris, whose lights are already on until 01:00 at night, will also turn off at 23:45.

Stating that the temperatures of all other public buildings will be reduced gradually, with the exception of elderly nursing homes, nurseries and similar public buildings, Hidalgo reminded that the buildings belonging to administrative institutions will start to be heated one month later this winter.

Emphasizing that there should be general mobilization, Hidalgo underlined that 96 percent of energy consumption does not belong to municipal services. The French press reported that the step to turn off the lights of public buildings in Paris early will come into effect from September 23, and it covers city halls in all regions of Paris, museums affiliated with the municipality and the Saint-Jacques Tower, which is approximately 52 meters tall.

It was noted that the temperature in the capital’s swimming pools will be reduced by one degree.

Hidalgo, in his press release on the subject, said that the temperature of public buildings in Paris will be reduced from 19 degrees to 18 degrees. (AA)
