The environmental crime group in the North police region has previously been investigating a possible connection between three deaths in Skellefteå where the dead people worked at Northvolt.
During the investigation, another death and an acute illness came to the attention of the police.

“At the moment there is no concrete connection between any of the events. We have also not been able to clarify what caused the events,” the police write on their website.
The illness occurred at the workplace while the death occurred outside of work. Both took place during the month of July.
The police: There is no suspicion of crime
The police further write that the investigation continues and that it will take a few more weeks before all analyzes are complete.
The police write that all investigations relating to the deaths are classified without suspicion of crime. Regarding the investigation relating to causing illness, no preliminary investigation has been initiated.
Union: “Shocked”
The chief security officer at Northvolt Mikael Stenmark has not received information about the death.
– I’m shocked. I had no idea about that. I spoke to representatives of the company as recently as this morning and then nothing was mentioned about this, says Mikael Stenmark.
He thinks it is good that the police investigate the cases.
– It is strange. It doesn’t feel good, I hope it has no connection to our work environment, says Mikael Stenmark.
