New DC leadership ignores Arrowverse co creators and hes bitterly disappointed

This year The Flash comes to an end after nine seasons and with it the so-called Arrowverse, i.e. the television universe of DC, dies. In the future of the comic house being envisioned by James Gunn and Peter Safran, there is no place for these versions of Flash, Supergirl and Co.

Marc Guggenheim is one of the creators of the Arrowverse, along with Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg. He recently vented his disappointment.

Marc Guggenheim didn’t even get a call from DC management

In a newsletter, Guggenheim first describes great expectations and then bitter disappointment. He describes how he worked on making the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover a reality in 2019, in which several DC series collided, and notes that the Arrowverse showed how a multiverse storyline could work long before Marvel (or DC in cinemas). According to his own statements, he even invested $10,000 of his own wealth. But while fans loved the event, Hollywood gave it the cold shoulder.

Then Guggenheim turns to the current DC leadership:

James Gunn announced this week that he has put together a Writers Room to plan what the new DC Universe will be like under his and Peter Safran’s leadership. Suffice it to say that I do not belong to this group. […] I’ll be honest, I would have liked to at least get a meeting. No job, that should be noted. a meeting a conversation A small tribute to what I’ve added to the large tapestry that represents the DC Universe. I’ve only worked in this field for nine years.

In the post, Guggenheim not only expressed frustration at not getting credit for his work from Safran and Gunn, but that working on the Arrowverse didn’t get him any further overall:

Put simply, the Arrowverse hasn’t led to any other jobs, so career-wise it feels like that I really wasted my time.
How do you classify Guggenheim’s statements?

Given how long Guggenheim has been involved with the Arrowverse, his reaction to the new DC leadership’s solo effort is understandable. Especially when you remember that for a long time the TV series represented the only really functioning DC universe in the live-action area, while the cinema films constantly oscillated between crisis and success.

It is more difficult to assess from the outside why Guggenheim could not make a profit from it, or at least no further projects. His colleague Greg Berlanti, with whom he developed Arrow, is generally regarded as the head of the Arrowverse. Although he has not yet appeared in Gunn and Safran’s plans, he is one of the busiest men on American television. The creator/producer of You, Titans and Superman & Lois just inked a $300 million deal with Warner Bros. TV for new series development in January, Deadline reported. Apparently Guggenheim can only dream of that, which could explain the bitter tone in the newsletter.
