A new shooter on Steam has an interesting concept in which opponents destroy each other, among other things. You can find out exactly what’s behind it here.
What game is this about? The Forever Winter is a new co-op shooter on Steam. There is no exact release date yet, you can just put the game on your wish list.
Above all, the shooter attracts with an interesting concept that puts you, regardless of party, in a never-ending mech war. What is particularly interesting here is that a PvEvE conflict takes place in The Forever Winter. In this, enemy factions will constantly fight each other – including giant robots.
Your goal in this conflict will be to plunder and, above all, to survive. The trailer already shows you a bit of gameplay and in-game material. Since this is pre-alpha material, what is shown is still a bit rough and unfinished here and there. The gameplay could change a lot in the future:
What is behind the concept? In The Forever Winter, the focus is primarily on the conflict caused by the ongoing mech war. As a player, you are not on any side in this war, but rather pursue your own goal of surviving during this time.
In a team of four, you must scavenge and expand your equipment and arsenal in order to survive. The team consists of four players or you can go solo with three AI team members. And survival is actually the top priority here, because if your entire team dies, you lose everything you’ve collected up to that point and your equipment and have to start from scratch.
So you have to rely on teamwork to survive as long as possible and especially between the much larger NPCs. “Enemies have their own goals and agendas, operate in coordinated groups as part of a combat ecosystem, and initiate battles against you and other NPCs,” says a press release accompanying the trailer, as reported by rockpapershotgun.com.
AI opponents attack you or fight against each other
“Each faction will respond intelligently to your actions in different ways,” it continues. If the developers keep their promises, you as a player are always at risk of being attacked yourself or getting into a fight between giant robots.
A concept that definitely sounds interesting and would fit well with the mech designs seen in the trailer. “So metal, I want to run into a stone wall,” is how one user describes his opinion of the concept and the trailer in his comment.
