The grand finale of Agatha All Along reached us just in time for Halloween and marked the end of the witch’s path with the title heroine played by Kathryn Hahn – at least for the time being. Because the latest developments may indicate a surprising sequel for the originally as a miniseries planned Marvel hit to. And if you ask the fans, this decision is long overdue anyway.
Agatha All Along Season 2: Will the Marvel hit continue?
As Variety reports, Marvel and Disney+ have submitted the popular fantasy series for the upcoming award season around the Golden Globes, Emmys and Co. As expected as this development is, one detail raises eyebrows. Because the series will not compete in the Best Limited Series or Best Miniseries category, but in the Comedy series category.
This puts Agatha All Along up against titles like The Bear, Hacks and Abbott Elementary. What all these series have in common: they already count several seasons to her repertoire. The fact that Agatha All Along gets further seasons is once again fueled by the categorization.
The Disney+ hit Shogun, which was originally planned as a miniseries, was allowed or had to compete in the drama category at the Emmys this year after a second season was confirmed by the streamer. Because the Television Academy’s rules for miniseries say:
The program must tell a complete, non-recurring story and may not continue storylines and characters in further seasons.
Kathryn Hahn’s character Agatha Harkness already appeared in the Marvel series WandaVision, which makes Agatha All Along an indirect continuation of this series. However, series such as Echo, in which Alaqua Cox from Hawkeye appeared, and The Book of Boba Fett, which was developed as a spin-off to The Mandalorian, were allowed to compete at the Emmys as miniseries.
