New climate bonus will be introduced in 2026 this

To replace the climate bonus, a scrapping bonus of SEK 10,000 was introduced for those who scrap a car at the same time as they buy or lease an electric car. However, this has turned out to be something of a flop.

New rules for emissions

In 2027, new rules will be introduced regarding emission rights – called ETS2 – which will make it more expensive to emit carbon dioxide. In turn, the price of petrol and diesel will also increase.

This is believed to affect both small businesses and private individuals, and those who are particularly hard hit by ETS2 will be compensated with one social climate fundsomething every country must now introduce.

It reports Auto Motor & Sports.

From 2026

The social climate fund will be used between 2026 and 2032 to pay out money to those in extra need. It is up to each individual member state to decide who is included in that category.

The government is of the opinion that people and small businesses in sparsely populated areas are hit hardest by the increased fuel prices, which is why the fund should help them get an electric car.

Not as generous

The canceled climate bonus was SEK 70,0000 for electric cars and was paid out to those who bought or leased a factory-new electric car. The counterclaim was that they would keep the car for six months.

In 2023, SEK 5.8 billion was paid out in climate bonuses, while the new climate bonus is expected to be SEK 800 million, of which the Swedish state accounts for SEK 200 million.

The reason for the lower sum is that the money will primarily go to small businesses and private individuals in sparsely populated areas.

However, it does not appear exactly what the amount is.
