The Christian Democratic Youth Association has elected 24-year-old Stefan Sarmes as the new chairman.

“I am very grateful for the trust I have received from the members and am humbled by the task that lies ahead of us. We have to manage a proud tradition of challenging and driving Christian democracy forward – I want to continue that,” says Stefan Sarmes in a press release.

He succeeds Nike Örbrink, who last year took over as group leader for his party in the city of Stockholm.

The election took place on Saturday in connection with KDU’s national meeting in Linköping.
