Authorities in Australia have reported an increase in measles cases among people who visited Southeast Asia, it reports News.com.au.
– In recent weeks, we have seen a clear increase in reported measles cases among travelers, says Evelyn WongDirector of Health in Victoria, to the site.
Measles cases have also been reported in other parts of Asia, Africa and Europe.

Travelers are advised to get vaccinated
Those planning to travel to Southeast Asia are now being urged to ensure they are vaccinated before travelling, especially now that the disease has started to spread.
The number of measles cases has also increased sharply in Sweden. During September 2024, eight cases were found, which is the highest number of cases in one month in ten years, P4 Stockholm reported.

Most Swedish measles cases are linked to travel abroad. Health authorities emphasize the importance of staying up-to-date on vaccination status and recommend that all travelers take the necessary precautions to avoid infection.
