New carrier, but student transport remains a mess

New carrier but student transport remains a mess

Connexxion response:

A Connexxion spokesperson said they regret the problems. “We would rather prevent this, especially in this vulnerable target group.” Yet 50 complaints have been received in the past week. “Every complaint is of course one too many.”

According to Connexxion, this is because they have taken over transport. Start-up problems were inevitable. New subcontractors have been deployed, the spokesperson explains. This was necessary due to a major staff shortage in the sector.

At Connexxion, employees are working hard to ensure improvements. “We are confident that these issues will be resolved in the coming days.”

Yet Connexxion understands that it makes parents hopeless. “To really solve the current problem, there must be a national response to the challenges in student transport. The staff shortage remains our reality for the time being. Several agencies have already called on politicians to tackle these challenges. As a transporter, we can do that not alone.”
