A third specialization for the Callers in World of Warcraft is becoming more and more likely. Now NPCs are already talking about it.
A few days ago we speculated that the newest class in World of Warcraft, the Caller, might soon have a third specialization. Now there is new information that further supports this theory. Because the former chief of the black dragons, Deathwing, speaks of it himself.
What was discovered? The colleagues at wowhead have found new sound files in the game data for Patch 10.1 Embers by Neltharion. These will play as the storyline progresses in the new update and will be voiced by Neltharion. This is probably a record of the past. For the former aspect of the black dragonflight narrates (translated):
You three will be the examples for all Dracthyr.
Sarkarath, my Ravager, you shall rend your foes with the might of the red and blue dragonflight.
Viridia, my keeper, you shall heal our allies with the grace of the green and bronze dragonflight.
And Emberthal, you will carry the essence of the black dragonflight to empower all those around you.
By my command, kneel and serve.
Neltharion is clearly speaking of three different archetypes that should exist among the callers. So far, however, only two of them are playable.
What does that mean? Of course, “story” and “gameplay” are fundamentally two different things. However, it is unusual for an important character to so clearly address the different specializations and also mention a new, previously unplayable specialization. It would go well with the theme of self-discovery and exploration of the past if Callers were given another talent tree.
It remains to be seen whether this talent tree will actually come with patch 10.1 or whether this is just the beginning of this search. However, it seems clear that Blizzard is not finished with the callers.
What kind of talent tree would that be? In his speech, Neltharion speaks of “augmentation”, i.e. “increase”, “increase” or “improvement”. So the third specialization would be something new in the World of Warcraft, namely a role that strengthens other party members and gives them additional buffs – at least in theory. However, it remains to be seen whether this is just a term or, like the “amplifier shaman”, ultimately works independently.
In any case, it is an exciting topic that we will certainly learn more about in the coming weeks.
