It was a year ago that the burglary method was first discovered in Europe, but only a few weeks ago it was clear to the police that it had also come to Sweden, which P4 Stockholm first reported on.
The break-in technique seems to involve pouring a liquid over the door lock. According to the police, the method is also silent, which may be the reason for the large spread in a short time.
The liquid, which is still unknown, could be corrosive acid, according to the police.
– We have sent some locks to NFC, the National Forensic Centre, and there we are waiting for analysis answers, says police inspector Rhone Hall to P4 Stockholm.

“There was a hole in the lock”
P4 Stockholm has spoken to a man whose girlfriend fell victim to the burglary method. The man was only going to visit his girlfriend’s residence on Östermalm in Stockholm, but when he approached her front door, he quickly noticed that everything was not right.
– There was a hole in the lock and some substance had flowed down. There was something green on the floor too, he tells the radio.
Even in the apartment, there were clear signs that there had been a break-in. There were clothes on the floor, drawers were open and, among other things, jewelry was missing.

How do you protect yourself from the new burglary technology?
Since the liquid is still unknown, it can be difficult to know how best to protect yourself from the burglary trend, but the police still urges to try to prevent the break-in.
According to police inspector Roine Hall, they do this by having security-rated locks on their front doors.
