New Big Bang Theory series nabs 3 original stars – but there’s still a big catch

New Big Bang Theory series nabs 3 original stars

Around a year and a half ago there were reports for the first time that the comedy hit The Big Bang Theory was having a… new series continued should be. As with Young Sheldon, the project is not a classic sequel. Instead, another spin-off is planned.

However, there is a crucial difference: While Young Sheldon delves far into the past of the titular main character, the new The Big Bang Theory series moves significantly closer to the original. This is also clear from the most recent update. Three stars from the parent series are returning for the spin-off.

Kevin Sussman, Lauren Lapkus and Brian Posehn return in new The Big Bang Theory series

Based on a report from the industry magazine Variety, we can look forward to the return of Kevin Sussman, Lauren Lapkus and Brian Posehn in the new The Big Bang Theory series. All three should have theirs back well-known roles to record.

Specifically, these are:

  • Stuart (Kevin Sussman)
  • Denise (Lauren Lapkus)
  • Bert (Brian Posehn)
  • Stuart first appeared in Season 2 of The Big Bang Theory and became one as a comic book salesman prominent recurring character. Between 2009 and 2019, Sussman appeared in a total of 84 episodes. Lapkus only has eight. In seasons 11 and 12, she played Denise, Stuart’s assistant at the comic book store.

Meanwhile, Posehn made his TBBT debut in season 6 and appeared in 15 episodes by the end of the series. Bert, who he played, was a geologist at Calltech and had one secret crush on Amy (Mayim Bialik). This creates a very direct connection to one of the main characters in the original.

Concrete details about the premise of the new series are not yet known. Warner Bros. Television is currently developing the series for the streaming service Max (formerly HBO Max). And here we come to the rub: Although the project has been making the rounds in Hollywood for over a year, so far it has officially no green light receive.

When does the new The Big Bang Theory series start?

As long as there is no green light, this question will be difficult to answer. TBBT fans still don’t have to wait long for supplies. The Young Sheldon spin-off will be released in the USA in just a few days Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage launched on CBS. With a bit of luck, the series will soon come to Germany.
