Ralf Husmann, who also wrote the gags for Stromberg, is responsible for the script. In an interview with Prisma, he says that the Idea for Ordinary Lies from the British TV series Ordinary Lies which he originally wanted to adapt for the German market, but which then evolved into the comedy.
