new attacks on the territory high tension

With World War II commemorations eight days away, several events have been canceled or scaled back, including in Moscow. This Monday, May 1, two new incidents were reported in the border regions of Ukraine.

With our correspondent in Moscow, Anissa El Jabri

Last July, the very first drone, reported as being sent from Ukraine to Russian territory, had already targeted a village in the Bryansk region. The machine had fallen into a service station.

Since then, the attacks have continued and all border regions have had their alert level raised to medium.

On Sunday, according to the regional governor of the Bryansk region, a Ukrainian bombardment targeting a village killed four people. This Monday, May 1, it would be, according to a local official, an “explosive device” which caused the derailment and subsequent fire of a freight train. The latter was transporting, according to a Russian media, fuel and construction materials.

Fears for May 9

This May 1st again, it would also be another explosive device that damaged a high voltage line. The incident this time took place in the Leningrad region in northwestern Russia.

Two days ago, an oil depot, a very symbolic target, was hit by a drone attack. It was in Sevastopol, Crimea, a territory annexed in 2014 by Russia. Finally, in the harbor of the city, the Russian defense would have repelled, this Monday again, drone attacks. These events revive the fear, already very present, of very important attacks for May 9, day of commemoration of the Second World War called “great patriotic war” in Russia.
