Britain and Rwanda have signed a new agreement in a bid to breathe new life into a controversial British proposal to deport people seeking asylum in Britain to the East African country.
The agreement was signed by British Home Secretary James Cleverly and Rwandan Foreign Minister Vincent Biruta in Rwanda’s capital, Kigali.
In November, the Supreme Court in Great Britain stopped the proposal, and then referred to both British and international legislation.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced shortly after the decision that he would seek a new agreement with Rwanda.
