New AS Roma Stadium green light from the Council to

(Finance) – The administrative process continues within the established timescales preliminary project presented by AS Roma for the realization of new stadium in Pietralata. The Council of Rome Capital has in fact approved the Report on the outcomes of the Public Debate presented by Nomisma, formalizing the requests and recommendations contained. The Debate recorded the participation of around 700 people in total in the 10 public meetings organized over the 2 months it took place.

The requests and insights that emerged during the public debate were analyzed by the Administration and AS Roma and concerned various aspects of the project, in most cases already addressed and touched upon during the examination of the resolution on the Public Interest last May . These are technical-administrative, procedural and management issues; environmental issues (visual impact, local microclimate, land consumption, natural habitat and ecosystem value, acoustic impacts, energy critical issues, light pollution, heat islands, fine dust and waste disposal), mobility and accessibility (with specific attention that must be aimed at cycle and pedestrian mobility, the connection with the neighboring neighbourhoods, with particular reference to via dei Monti Tiburtini) and characteristics of the project. These issues, posed by citizens and committees, have merged into a series of design recommendations delivered to the Company. The next procedural step involves the delivery by AS Roma of the definitive project accompanied by a sworn economic-financial plan which must be approved by the Capitoline Assembly. In the same session, the Mayor’s representative will be indicated at the decision-making services conference which will be opened by the Lazio Region.

“With this resolution we complete the process of public debate and, once again, we do so in full compliance with the deadlines, demonstrating the attention and seriousness with which we are following this project to allow the construction of the stadium in time to celebrate the centenary of the Giallorossi team. All the recommendations that emerged during the public debate process are in line with the provisions contained in the Resolution approved by the Capitoline Assembly for the recognition of the Public Interest. Roma Capitale has concluded, for the moment, its work giving among ‘other le authorizations for the start of surveys in the Pietralat areasto. Now Roma must present the definitive project, an indispensable step for the realization of a work awaited by fans for many years which is at the same time a great opportunity to enhance a quadrant of the city”, declares the‘Councillor for Urban Planning of Rome Capital, Maurizio Veloccia.
