A five-person US delegation, led by Democratic Senator Ed Markey of Massachusetts, is visiting Taiwan on Sunday and Monday, as part of a trip to Asia.
They will meet with Taiwanese leaders to discuss US-Taiwan relations, regional security, trade, investment and other issues.
The visit comes 12 days after US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited the country – angering the Chinese regime, which responded by sending missiles, warships and fighter jets into the sea and air around Taiwan.
