After the catastrophe escalation, one of the two now follows Action thriller in the war film genre. Waugh’s new film Kandahar opens in our theaters on August 17th. In it, Butler has to fight for survival in the middle of Afghanistan.
New action thriller with Gerard Butler should be worth it
In the film’s plot, written by former military intelligence officer Mitchell LaFortune, the star plays a US spy undercover in Afghanistan whose true identity is exposed. Along with his translator, Mo (Navid Negahban), he must make his way through the war zone to a life-saving helicopter while he various killers on their heels are.
Our colleagues from Filmstarts have already seen Kandahar and recommend the latest Butler actioner in their review not only for fans of the actor:
What initially sounds like an extremely straightforward action star vehicle turns out to be much more complex and fragile film. “Kandahar” doesn’t quite fit into the genre of the serious spy thriller nor in the action genre – and this position between the chairs can be found quite interesting.
In addition to Butler, Vikings star Travis Fimmel can also be seen in Kandahar in a supporting role as the protagonist’s contact.
