17-year-old skiing talent Alvar Myhlback won JVM gold in 10 kilometers.
Afterwards, he was extremely happy – and extremely nauseous.
– I have never spat so much in my entire life. But it was the funnest vomit I’ve had, he says.
Halfway through the 10-kilometer race, he led by 33 seconds. Five kilometers later he finished 52 seconds ahead of the rest of the field in Planica.
17 year olds Alvar Myhlback was dominant when, in his first JVM, against competitors two years older, he won the gold.
– It’s just a constant rush of joy. It’s magical, says Alvar Myhlback shortly after the success to TT.
“So sickening”
A few minutes earlier he had just been forced to puke.
– I got so fucking nauseous. It took almost all the joy. I have never spit so much in my life. Not nearby.
– It’s probably a sign that you’ve gotten out. I fought for that gold. I have struggled for so incredibly long.

Alvar Myhlback is a huge skiing talent for his age. The 17-year-old has been highly praised on several occasions by icon Petter Northug, who described him as a “jewel”.
– I like him. I recognize myself a little from when I was that age myself. He has that twinkle in his eye that shows he wants to get better every day. He just needs to be slowed down, quite simply, Northug told NTB in December 2023.

– I was incredibly pissed off last Wednesday. It was a bit of a flop. It’s nice to be able to fight back.

Disease fight
Before the championship, Alvar Myhlback was pulled with a cold.
– It’s as bad a charge as you can get, he says.

– I don’t know what to say. To be able to do it this way. A huge goal has been achieved.
