Do not put your power bank in checked luggage
According to Peter Wärring who is the press officer at Swedavia, which runs the airports in Sweden, there is a common mistake among travelers.
Too many pack an unauthorized item in their checked luggage: power banks. These can overheat and cause a fire.
– In general, based on fire safety on board, power banks should always be packed in hand luggage as there may be a risk of overheating. Objects that are considered to be a danger to flight safety can also be seized during screening at the airport, says Wärring TV4.

– What we know is that there are still very many travelers who have these in their checked luggage. In 2023, Avinor threw away over 20,000 power banks seized from checked luggage in Norway, he tells TV4 and continues:
– It creates extra jobs at the airports, but also that it is sad to lose your power bank at the airport.
